Catch a Flick at Starlight Cinemas!

Summer is a great time to be outdoors. If you’re staying in hotels in Mountain View CA, be sure to check out Starlight Cinema’s free summer outdoor movies in various locations of Downtown San Jose.  Movies screen Thursday nights under the stars with pre-show entertainment, and a special Friday Night Zombie O-Rama IV.

The fun starts at 7 every Thursday, and movies begin at dusk. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on to enjoy the film! No outside food permitted at San Pedro Square. Outside alcohols is not permitted at any of the four venues—feel free to enjoy drunks from the San Pedro Square market instead!

Here are the details on Starlight Cinema screenings:

June 14 – Hook

Venue: St. James Park

Food trucks Rice Rockit and Scoops will be onsite. Pre-movie activities include Broadway San Jose’s “Peter Pan” and pirate themed contests. Prizes will be awarded to best pirate imitation and best pirate costume. Guests are invited to fight with foam swords and hooks.

June 21 – Some Like it Hot

Venue: San Pedro Square

Before the movie, there will be a Marilyn Monroe look-alike contest and Broadway San Jose-led sing along to the film.

June 28 – Little Shop of Horrors

Venue: Historic District

Live music, trivia and a flower arranging contest will take place before the film.

July 19 – The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Venue: San Pedro Square

Pre-movie entertainment includes Clint Eastwood trivia and Western BINGO.

July 26 – The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Venue: Historic District

The Bawdy Caste performance group will perform before and during the movie, including a group “Time Warp” dance.

August 16 – Sixteen Candles

Venue: San Pedro Square

Radio Alice will hold a “Sweet 16 Celebration,” a complete 80s prom with dance contests before the film.

August 23 – Singing in the Rain

Venue: Historic District

Broadway San Jose will hold group dancing lessons before the movie screens.

August 31 – Shaun of the Dead

Location: SoFA District

Zombie-O-Rama IV will be held prior to the film. Scare your friends with make-up from artists SLG Art & Boutiki  There will be pre- and post-movie zombie crawls, a young zombie parade, costume contests, live bands and more.
