If the Oscars don’t quite satisfy your appetite for film, check out Cinequest in San Jose February 26-March 10! In true Silicon Valley fashion, Cinequest fuses creativity and technology through the Cinequest Film Festival and Maverick’s Studio. Those staying in hotels near San Jose CA will be in a great location to experience one of the biggest film festivals in Northern California!
The 13-day event presents over 200 international films with over 600 artists, technologists and professionals from 44 countries. Cinequest is the optimal opportunity for artists and film aficionados to network and learn about cutting edge technology to make movies. Around 95,000 people attend the film festival every year.
Actor Harrison Ford is the recipient of the Maverick Spirit Award this year. He will receive the award on Sunday, March 3 at 7pm. Rush line tickets will be available the day of or by purchasing the Mavericks & VIP All Access Passes.
Cinequest 2013 opens this year with director Sally Potter’s new film Orlando. Elle Fanning, Alice Englert, Annette Bening and Christina Hendricks all star in this coming-of-age story. Fanning and Englert play two best friends, Ginger and Rosa, who somehow get caught up in the Cuban Missile Crisis and Cold War while growing up in the 1960s in London. The film screens on February 26 at 7pm at the California Theatre.
Admission to regular screenings is $10 with a $7 matinee or $5 discount for students. You can also get tickets to special events for $10-$50. Those who want to see as many films as possible may be interested in purchasing a Film Lover Pass with access to all screenings for $145.
