This year, the annual Silicon Valley Irish Fleadh Festival is on May 17th and 18th from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Downtown Mountain View, Hope Street. This Irish Fleadh – pronounced “Flah” and is the Gaelic word for festival – is sure to be a fun time for everybody involved! Join in on all the excitement by enjoying the live music, food, and arts and crafts all in the traditional Irish spirit! There will even be a Kid’s Zone ensuring that this Fleadh is great for the whole family to enjoy! All families and guests staying in hotels around the Silicon Valley are invited to attend this extremely fun festival!
The Silicon Valley Irish Fleadh has a great setlist when it comes to entertaining all the guests. Both days will have performances from the talented Whelan Kennelly Dance Academy, where you will be able to see various traditional Irish dancing forms. Headlining on Saturday is The Shams, a fan-favorite band from San Francisco, which excites the crowd with their lively music, excellent fiddle playing, and lyrics that get to heart of what it means to be Irish. On Sunday, the U2 tribute band, Zoo Station, will headline and close out the festival by playing all the U2 classics you know and love!
If you’re hungry, don’t worry. There will be a number of Irish food vendors all throughout the festival serving Irish classics such as Corned Beef Rolls, Fish and Chips, Banger and Mash, Irish Mac and Cheese, Shepherds Pie, Celtic Rolls and more. What would an Irish Festival be without Guinness? This year, the festival is proud to feature the “Guinness Gig Rig”, a monster beer truck that travels all across the country for events just like this. The festival will also feature Irish brands such as Harp and Smithwick’s, along with a numerous selection of craft and local brewers. If you happen to prefer wine more, there will also be a wine booth available all day. Don’t forget to purchase your commemorative “Silicon Valley Irish Fleadh” beer and wine glasses so you can always remember this fun and unique event!
The Kid’s Zone will have a slide and bouncy castles for your kids to enjoy. There will even be a face painter and balloon artist to make all your kids’ favorite balloon animals and more! There will also be arts and crafts displaying Irish culture including Celtic jewelry. With all this excitement, this is definitely not an event to miss!
