Many people have different holiday traditions that they take part in. One holiday tradition that is extremely popular throughout the US is to watch The Nutcracker. This ballet is one of the most well known ballets in the entire world and it should be enjoyed during the holiday season. Lucky for you, the Santa Clara Convention Center will be performing The Nutcracker for the weekend of December 13 – 14. The story centers on the adventures of young Clara on Christmas. We begin at a Christmas Eve party where everyone is merry. The guests are laughing and sitting by the fire, while the children play and enjoy one another’s company. Enter Drosselmeyer, a magician and also Clara’s godfather. He comes bearing gifts to the children and Clara receives a beautiful nutcracker. Her younger brother becomes jealous and breaks the jaw from the nutcracker. Soon, the party winds down and everyone leaves. The children are asleep but at the stroke of midnight, something magical begins to happen and for Clara, her adventure is just about to begin! Follow Clara as she witnesses a battle between mice and gingerbread soldiers. And who does she meet? It is none other than her nutcracker who is now a prince! After the battle, they travel to the Land of Sweets where they eventually meet the Sugar Plum Fairy, ruler of the Land of Sweets. What will happen next to Clara and her prince? Tickets for The Nutcracker are on sale today and there will only be four performances, so be sure to hurry as they might sell out! On Saturday, December 13, the shows are at 2pm and 7pm. On Sunday, December 14, the shows will be at 1pm and 5pm. Tickets for preferred seating for all ages are $36, general reserved seating for adults costs $32 and general reserved seating for children 12 and younger are $26. Tickets for seniors 65+ are also $26.
