The first thing you should do before you even leave for your destination is to backup important documents in an electronic form. Think about any of the documents you have that would be terrible if you were to lose them. These include your passport, travel insurance policy, itinerary confirmations and more. All of this information should be scanned and put on a flashdrive where it is then kept on your person during your travels. If you don’t want to put the information on a flashdrive, consider keeping the documents in a remote place such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
After this is taken care of, you’ll want to pack for your trip. This is includes all work related items and electronics. Some work related items that you might need include printed handouts, business cards, and a notebook. Consider the type of presentation you might be giving. What items will you need for that? It is also helpful to make copies just in case. As far as electronics go, make sure you do not forget your chargers as they can often be left behind on accident.
Finally, try to limit your luggage to a carry on. The last thing you want to have to worry about is getting your luggage lost during the flight.
