This particular exhibit informs guests about the rich history of Los Altos as well as the surrounding area. Next door to the museum you’ll also find the J. Gilbert Smith House. The house was built in 1905 and it is a great example of homes built during that time. Stevens Creek hiking & Reservoir

The Stevens Creek County Park is a 1,063 acre park that is a popular destination for hiking and other outdoor activities including boating thanks to the 86 acre reservoir. A trip to the county park is a nice way to get out of the city and enjoy some outdoors and fresh air. While you can enjoy fishing, boating and other fun activities at the reservoir, the park also is a great place to go on a hike. Read on to learn more.


The Stevens Creek Tony Look Trail is a moderate trail that is a 6.1 mile loop. The hike offers a mix of ups and downs as you loop around and above the Stevens Creek Reservoir. The whole loop on average takes about 3.5 hours. The hike offers a variety of shaded and open air locations. In the shaded areas you’ll come across sycamore, big-leaf maple, cottonwood, and cercocarpus foliage. During the winter, you might also see some small waterfalls along the trail and if you hike during the spring, you’ll be greeted by wildflowers along the woods and grasslands. The trail is a combination of unpaved fire road and dirt paths. At the top of the lookout you’ll see great views of the reservoir. After the workout from the trail, stop by at one of the picnic areas and give yourself a break in the shade! If you’re looking for even more of a challenge, the Tony Look Trail will connect to the Coyote Ridge Trail. Here, a 200 foot ascent will take you to Fremont Older.


The Stevens Creek County Park is located at 11401 Stevens Canyon Road in Cupertino. The Lakeshore Picnic area offers six, shaded picnic areas, three of which are located right alongside Stevens Creek. All together, the park offers over 9 miles of hkes. In addition to hikes, you can also rent a horse and go on one of the horse friendly trails. Horses are available to rent at the Garrod Stables.

The Rengstorff House

Mountain View, California is a conveniently located city in Northern California. Henry Rengstorff was originally from Germany where his father operated a tavern. At the age of 21 he sailed around Cape Horn and arrived in San Francisco in 1850 after hearing word of the Gold Rush.
